Let us recall some facts that we learned about polar covalent bonds in Section 10-3. In the HCl molecule, the Cl atom is more electronegative than the H atom. Electrons are displaced toward the Cl atom, as shown in the electrostatic potential map in the margin. The HCl molecule is a polar molecule.
