(V/O) When people get in the (SYNC) rail corridors trespassing on the railway, they do not realize how heavy these trains are, how fast they’re going and how long it takes to stop. (V/O) One of our trains weighs four hundred and seventy five tons. At a hundred kilometres an hour it takes almost (SYNC) five hundred metres to stop. (V/O) Train drivers will do all they can to stop the vehicle but often these people are in front of the train within seconds and therefore (SYNC) the inevitable’s going to happen, the train’s going to hit the individual. (V/O) This can affect our staff and sometimes a near (SYNC) miss is almost as traumatic as something actually occurring.
