Postnatal care is regarded as one of the most
important maternal health care services for the
prevention of impairment and disability resulting from
child birth. The postnatal care includes systematic
examination of the mother and baby and appropriate
advice given to the mother during postpartum period [1].
The postnatal period is defined as the first six weeks
after birth which is critical to the health and survival of a
mother and her newborn. The World Health
Organization (WHO) describes the postnatal care as the
most critical and most neglected phase of the life of the
mothers and babies as most of the death occur during the
postnatal period
