The specific application of comparative composite cohort analysis to occupational tumours of the bladder for males in England and Wales, with Tables to facilitate the easy application ofthe method, has been discussed at length by Case (1953a, b). When applied to industrial hazards, however, this method presupposes the full and detailed co-operation of the industry concerned. In the previous investigation (Case and others, 1954) a prior appreciation of risk had secured this co-operation. In the present investigation there has been no prior appreciation of risk, and therefore this method of
analysis was not feasible.
