From the preceding discussion it is clear that females and males do not perceive
retirement planning in the same way. The concept map generated for females yields
different themes to that generated for males. When thinking about retirement planning,females focus on the practical themes of money, planning and government, whereas males focus on the more abstract themes of work, retirement and lifestyle. This difference may indicate that females consider themselves, generally, as having limited opportunity to acquire sufficient funds for their retirement compared to males. In comparison, males do not consider that they will have limited opportunities to accrue financial wealth in their working lives and this is reflected by their focus on the overall concepts of retirement, work and lifestyle
