The samples’ refractive index ranged from 1.711 to 1.718, and their specific gravity was from 3.578 to 3.673. They were isotropic, with no anomalous double refringence, and inert under both short- and long-wave UV light. Under the Chelsea filter, all the samples appeared pink to red (see table 1 for details). We observed that the darker the spinel, the redder the Chelsea filter reaction.
