ifference between the RP and the RNP areas on the types of labors used.
Most households in the RP areas used only family labors, with the percentages being
89.4, 84.1 and 89.0% for Zone I, Zone II and Zone III, respectively. The remaining
either used only hired labors or used both types of labors. On the other hand, for the
RNP area, the majority of the households (61.9%) used only hired labors, and a lesser
percentage (33.3%) used family labors only and a few (4.8%) used both types of
labors. There was no large size rubber plantation under tapping in the RNP area.
Some differences in labors used in the three RP zones were also observed. For Zone I,
family labors were predominantly used for all sizes of rubber plantations, but the
percentage of households that used only family labors was somewhat lower for
medium size plantations (66.2%) than for small size (94.6%) and large size
plantations (88.9%). For Zone II, however, family labors were predominantly used for
small size plantation (96.2%), and sharply declined for larger sizes of plantation
(49.3% for medium size and 0% for large size plantations) with corresponding
increases in the use of hired labors, as reflected by increasing percentages of
households that used only hired labors and those that used both types of labors (Table
4.2). For Zone III, most households used only family labors for both small size
(97.0%) and large size (80.6%) plantations with the remaining used either hired labors
