Generally speaking, carbon heating treatment leads to the formation of piles of polyaromatic domains of small ex-tent, often called basic structural units BSUs . The length of these small aromatic layers, their interspacing, and organiza-tion over distance larger than several nanometers provide the temperature range that the carbon has reached.24–26 There-fore, the structural analyses of carbon nanoparticles are a powerful method, allowing to find the temperature that these nanoparticles may achieved in the plasma. The structural fea-tures are usually well evidenced by high resolution transmis-sion electron microscopy HRTEM .
