Greater autonomy for organizing the planning team(s) would lead subsidiary managers to having greater feelings of ownership of the team(s), and com- mitment to and responsibility for their success. The subsidiary managers would believe themselves to be in a better position to judge the interpersonal relation- ships, individual interests, and expertise of planning team members because they work with them on a daily basis. On the other hand, if the parent organized the team(s), then team members might more likely re- sent their assignments, be less committed, and apply themselves less.
