Strategic Plan: Year 1 The first year of the strategic plan should complete steps one and two of the planning process. The first activities that should occur are assessments designed to ensure that management has a good understanding of the environment in which the hotel operates. From that understanding, management can plan for the future and establish long-term goals for the organization. Recommended activities: - Revisit and, if necessary, update the hotel's mission and values statements. - Assess the environment by conducting a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis.
