A male dolphin found in Tung Wan beach in Hong Kong’s New Territories has died after being moved to Ocean Park, 44 kilometers away.
It was the first case of live stranding of the endangered animal in Hong Kong, some media reports said Monday, citing the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department. It was was found by hikers on Saturday afternoon.
Rescuers arrived at 9 p.m. and brought the distressed mammal to Ocean Park where it died two hours later.
Veterinarians said the dolphin, which weighed 68 kilos and was 2.05 meters long, had suffered acute lung bleeding and inflammation in some organs.
