The large-scale fluid bed was a GEA Aeromatic-Fielder MP-
2/3 with a bottom plate diameter of 27.0 cm allowing a particle
bed load of 24 kg to be processed, thereby being six times larger
in bed load capacity with respect to the MP-1 and 48 times with
respect to the Strea-1 set-up. A picture of the MP-2/3 set-up can
be seen in Fig. 5. As for the other fluid bed scales, it was
possible to measure the bed temperature between the bottom air
distributor plate and the nozzle outlet. The Testo 645
Thermohygrometer was inserted 82 cm above the nozzle outlet
at a horizontal depth of 21 cm allowing the relative humidity in
the fluidisation chamber to be measured at a location identical to
the other fluidised bed scales. The back-flush option in the MP-
2/3 was set to be identical to the other set-ups.
