MVC image products for 2000 and 2010 each utilized imagery collected
over a five-year time period. As a result, MVC may be expected
to select whichever portion of that five-year period has the highest
magnitude value. For example, when a landscape converts froma vegetated
to Built class during the five-year period, threshold classification of
MVC NDVI products tends to select conditions earlier in the period
when vegetation is present, meaning that the LCLU map represents
states closer to the 2000 baseline date. Conversely, when LCLU transitions
from Forest/Secondary Forest to Agriculture, MVC SVVI products
will tend to represent conditions later in the period when MVC SVVI
values are high due to the presence of agriculture fields.
