Turkey is the biggest hazelnut producer and exporter in
the world providing 75% of the world hazelnut production (500,000–650,000 tons/year). Husk residue of hazelnut may be estimated
up to 200.000 tons/year drybasis, which can be burned anyway
or left in the field after harvest and any possible usage of which
will yield economic as well as environmental dividends. Therefore,
the aim of this study is to investigate the potential utilization of
hazelnut husk as a biomass. Features of biomass and the available
conversion systems in accordance with the intended usage and
features of hazelnut husk as biomass, and available and plausible
possible usage, have been mentioned in the following sections
