As seen from the study, of all the problems encountered by the students, speaking is classified as the most problematic skill in studying English. Moreover, the positive and negative defense mechanism the students employed are trying to listen to English songs and avoid speaking English. These results are very useful to teachers in providing studying English environment to enhance their utmost achievement. Speaking activities should be focused by language teachers to help them get used to English. Activity like ‘buddy program’ giving students an opportunity to speak with foreigners in informal atmosphere will promote their confidence in using English as well as overcome the avoiding speaking English in the real situation.
