Dear all,
Just to update you on the meeting I had today with Mathew, Tim and Goong regarding security of the boarding house. Key points for now in yellow
Discussion about boarders leaving the site without permission:
Explained that the boys were allowed out on Sunday at around 4pm having been told where to park their bikes first and then not asked for pink slip. Also mentioned that a pink slip was found on Friday yet the boarder still left site without it.
Follow up:
· Khun Goong will email TMC the boarder procedure that she has and TMC will update with new protocol.
· All boarders to be given photo ID cards that they must carry when leaving the campus so that it can be recorded at the gate.
· Security staff to keep a log of leave outs
· All boarders must have the slip with them for all occasions when leaving except when on school trips/ outings that are staffed
· One other exception: 6th form boarders can leave the campus between the end of the school day to visit the local shops on the Soi but must be back in boarding by 5pm (as per the offsite privilege rule). ID must be shown and names recorded.
· Pink slips to be collected by guards and in the event of a suspicious leave out (fraudulent or otherwise) they will be checked.
· Both front gate and Hyde park gate to be staffed by guards.
· Gates will have new, electronic access control system integrated and managed by security
· TMC to email Khun Goong, offsite privilege sheet, week day and weekend staffing lists, list of staff telephone numbers- so that guards have clearer details of who to contact in the event of needing to confirm a leave out or when an issue arises.
Discussion about boarding community safety during events on the school campus:
Concerns were raised with regard to adults and children being found in the boarding area at the weekend. Children playing in the basketball courts, adults smoking on the field behind the basketball courts and by the corner of the tennis courts.
Other issues re the difficult job of securing the area by single staff: some parents getting angry about being turned away from walking to their cars along the tennis court road. Adult male ignoring security staff and only following directions from boarding staff. Cars and busses parking along the road adjacent to the tennis courts and needing to turn round in the boarding area.
Follow up:
· New signage to be put up explaining that the area is private, by the tennis court corner and the gap in the field (also by the side of the field behind the tennis courts?)
· Other methods of tapping off area to also be used
· Minimum of 2 guards on duty at boarding during big events on the field
· A single guard to be on duty in holiday times
· Finger print technology on the boarding house doors to be trialled during term 2 (hopefully)
· Consideration of whether to move the barrier so that cordons off the boarding car park from pedestrians from the tennis courts path
Additional:
· Once H-build commences the issues diminishes due to the fencing off of the site.
· No big events scheduled until April 2015
