Culture
Culture in Bali is vibrant and visual and largely influenced by the Hindu religion and culture. With religion such a central part of the Balinese culture, there are many temples to be visited. Balinese people are excellent sculptors and you see sculpted masterpieces of god and goddess statues in courtyards and temples throughout the Island. Music and dance are a major and mainstream attraction for visitors to Bali and tourists can enjoy watching various performances that are colorful and dramatic. Performances include various traditional dance forms, puppet shows and folk music as well as performances which have a story line. Some popular Balinese dance forms are the Barong, also known as the lion dance, the Calonarang which is a story depicted through dance, the monkey dance and the famous and highly regarded Legong Keraton, which is usually performed by girls at tourist spots such as restaurants and hotels though there are more authentic full-length performances you may opt to watch at certain locations.
