The family Agavaceae with more than 480 species has
a distribution in the tropic and subtropic dry climate
regions throughout the world. The occurrence of steroidal
saponins in several Agavaceae plants is well
documented [l, 21. We have already made phytochemical
screening of the three Agavaceae plants,
Nohn recuwutu [3-S], Sunsecieriu trifhsciata [6, 71
and Cordyline strictu [S, 91. and isolated a variety
