Students can interact with the 3D model by means of a natural multi-touch interface that implements the typical interaction techniques that smartphone/tablet users already know well (Telkenaroglu & Capin, 2012). In this way students can rotate, pan and zoom the volumetric models according to a virtual trackball metaphor (Henriksen, Sporring, & Hornbaek, 2004) by simply touching the screen. Fig. 2 illustrates the multi-touch gestures that our software implements.
