In the present
study, basil oil was found to be composed of 74.3% estragole, and orange
oil was composed of 96.5% limonene. Estragole and limonene may
contribute to the high fumigant activity of the essential oils based on
24-h LC50 values of 0.004–0.122 and 0.013–0.171 mg cm−3 against
S. zeamais and T. castaneum adults, which are similar to the results of
previous studies. Estragole as a major compound (69.5%) of the essential
oil of Zanthoxylum schinifolium Sieb.
