The target of this special project is on studying of the possibility of using biochar made from durian and mangosteen husk as natural adsorbed materials to adsorb Zinc, Lead and Cadmium in soil. The durian and mangosteen husk were firstly passed the pyrolysis process. The chemical characterisation of there biochars were then performed. It was found from the characterisation process that biochars suited to be as metal adsorbed materials. The neutralization capability and acid neutralization capability were examined by adding acid and basic until the pH reached 2-12. These two biochars had high neutralization capability. The acid neutralization capability (ANC) of biochar made from durian and mangosteen were 1,464.80 meg kg-1 and 1,328.98 meq kg-1, respective. The study included adsorption isotherm. By using biochar made from durian husk, Freundlich isotherm was a suitable isotherm to explain the adsorption of all 3 metals. Whereas Langmuir isotherm is better to explain the adsorption of metals by biochar made from mangosteen husk. The adsorption capacity of both biochars was not much different. They gave >95% metal adsorption capacity.
