Source of Strange Odor Still Unknown
Police are still not sure where the unusual smell residents noticed on Franklin Street last night is coming from. Several calls came in to the police station between 7:00 and 9:00 P.M., with people reporting an unexplained strong smell outside their homes. Homeowner Christine Takacs said, "It was a very sweet smell, like some sort of candy. But it didn't smell natural; it smelled like chemicals. I got worried, so I called my children inside and called the police." Police are asking residents to stay indoors until they can determine where the smell is coming from and whether it is dangerous. Most Female Managers Want to Quit
A recent survey of 110 women in top-level positions in their companies showed that the majority of them would prefer not to work. The survey was conducted by a group of graduate students in the Business Administration program at City University. The students sent out a mail-in survey and conducted face-to-face interviews with females working in management positions in fifty-four different companies. The survey and interviews asked questions about job satisfaction, family life, stress levels, and personal likes and dislikes at work. Sixty-five percent of the women responded that if given the opportunity, they would prefer not to work at all. Most cited work-related stress as the reason.
