Blood samples for cortisol, glucose and hematocrit/leucocrit
analyses (commonly used as stress assessment methods, e.g. Ruane
et al., 2002) were collected at the end of the growth period (day 57).
After this sampling, fish were returned into their respective tanks for
an extra period of 15 days. Afterwards, on day 72 fish were subjected
to an acute stressor, which consisted of keeping each fish in a net
outside the water for 60s followed by 2h in the respective tanks.
Blood samples were collected 2 h after acute stress (based on
Barcellos et al. (1999b))
