In the first part of this study, taxiphyllin distribution along the radial and vertical axes of bamboo shoot was investigated in order to identify the proper part of bamboo shoot for subsequent degradatuon kinetics study. The statistucal analysis of the results indicated that taxiphyllin was unifromly distributed in bamboo shoot along its radius. But this substance was not evenly distributed along the vertical axis; the apical part of bamboo shoot was found to contain the highest level of taxiphyllin. It was therefore chosen for the kinetic study.
