Cyclamen (Myrsinaceae, formerly Primulaceae) is a common
geophyte cultivated throughout temperate zones (Takamura, 2006)
and its species are found growing in the East Mediterranean countries
of Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Cyprus, Greece, Israel and Iran
with additional enclaves in North Africa
