I can't remember why I purchased the 17 Photo Flawless Skin Primer now, but I believe that I probably got it as part of one of the regular three for two offers Boots have on the 17 brand.
I don't wear foundation every single day of the week but when I do I like to wear a primer to help it stay on for as long as possible. I don't like having to re-apply foundation throughout the day as I find adding a bit more on top of whatever I'm already wearing can cause my dry skin to look caked, therefore I usually end up removing my make-up altogether and reapplying it which is obviously time consuming. A primer, which is a product designed to prep the skin and keep foundation on longer, is therefore a good investment for me.
The 17 Photo Flawless Primer comes in a black tube with gold writing. It has a line of golden squares along both the top and bottom of the tube which I think is supposed to make it look like an old fashioned roll of film. I don't find the packaging particularly special, but I do like it, and it doesn't look too cheap.
The only instructions for use are to 'wear alone or under foundation'. There is no indication how much should be used at once, or how long you should leave it between applying the primer and applying the foundation, so it has been a case of trial and error. I only ever wear this under foundation as I feel it is a waste to apply it on its own. Usually I will apply this primer after applying my moisturiser, but sometimes I will put it directly onto bare skin, depending on how my skin is looking and feeling on the day. I haven't really noticed a difference in the results either way.
The primer comes in the form of a cloudy gel and has no noticeable scent. It feels incredibly silky and smooth when rubbing it into my skin and it instantly reminded me of another skin primer I have used in the past, the Smashbox Photo Finish primer. It's been a while since I used the Smashbox product but I would go as far as saying the 17 version is near identical in terms of texture and application.
