The results of this study show that high salt concentration affected
plant and microbial growth. The negative effect of salts on growth of
rhizobium and dry bean can be attributed to the specific ion and the
osmotic effect. The salt-tolerance of native Rhizobium and CIAT899 can
be related to the ecological conditions of the area fromwhich theywere
isolated. However, these results should be taken into consideration in
selecting native Rhizobium for use with legumes in salt-affected soils.
