Magnetic ions doped ZnO based materials have now emerged
as a topic of intense research due to promised applications in
optical components, microelectronic devices and in particular for
those applications where diluted magnetic semiconductors
(DMSs) are required [1–3]. Various techniques have been utilized
to synthesize pure and doped DMS materials with ZnO as a host, in
a quest to find room temperature (RT) ferromagnetism in the
samples. Among these attempts, Fe-doped ZnO have been generally
reported to exhibit RT ferromagnetism in phase pure samples
[4–6]. Various attempts have also been made both experimentally
and theoretically, to enhance the magnetization in these
compositions through additional doping of some trivalent ions [
