In three other experiments, intermittent drying were performed,
imposing the same time inside and outside the dryer.
Thus, the intermittency ratio defined as the ratio of tempering time
tout to total time for one cycle (tout + tin), i.e., a = tout/(tout + tin) is
equal to 1/2. In each intermittent drying, two bananas were used,
being one fruit in one distinct sieve: one sieve with one banana
inside the dryer and other, outside, placed into a desiccator. This
way, each intermittent drying was performed in duplicate and
the mean of two results was obtained to be analyzed. The time
interval for the position exchange of the sieves in each discontinuous
experiment was 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 h.
