2. Materials and methods
2.1. Materials
Silk waste was obtained from yellow cocoons of a polyvoltinerace (called locally as Nangnoi) of Thai silkworms, B. mori, from the Queen Sirikit Sericulture Centre, Tak Province, Thailand. All chemichemicals used for the determination of total flavonoids, such as quercetin dehydrate, aluminum chloride hexahydrate, and potassium acetate,and lutein used for the determination of total carotenoids, were analytical grade, and were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich, GerGermany. Ethanol used as a solvent for extraction of the pigments was also of analytical grade, and was purchased from Merck, USA.
