with a ring in the center (Fig. 1). On PSA, R1-1 and R1-2
were indistinguishable in colony morphology, but only R1-
2 produced a yellow pigment. On TZC medium, the wildtype
colonies were mucoid and slightly pink in contrast to
the flat, red colonies of R1-1; R1-2 colonies were flat,
translucent with a slightly orange center and R2 colonies
had a dry surface and were thick and pink (Fig. 1). Thus,
R1-1 and R1-2 were easily distinguishable by their colony
morphology on TZC medium.
