Few studies have been published regarding inhibition of microorgan-isms by the vapors generated by bergamot essential oil. Fisher and Phillips (2006) and Fisher et al. (2007) evaluated in vitro the effects of bergamot essential oil by vapor contact against L. monocytogenes, S. aureus, B. cereus, E. coli O157:H7, Campylobacter jejuni, and three Arcobacter butzleri strains, as well as on cabbage leaf and chicken skin.
