The second consequence of recycling is its economical benefits. First of all, recycling helps families save money, especially in communities with pay-as-you-throw programs. By maximizing their recycling rates and implementing these pay-as-you-throw programs, communities save more money. Apart from these, recycling creates 1.1 million U.S jobs, $236 billion in grass annual sales and $37 billion in annual payrolls. Moreover, it creates four jobs for every one job created in the waste management and disposal industries. It is not only individuals who benefit from recycling. Thanks to their voluntary recycling programs, thousands of U.S companies have saved million of dollars. Clearly, recycling makes sense in economical terms, too.
