The relaunch of Moscow flights, new Frankfurt services via Phuket and the deployment of the new Airbus 350 XWB on Italian routes are highlights of Thai Airways International's winter programme.
The six-month flight plan will also see THAI increase the frequency of flights on mostly European routes.
President Charamporn Jotikasthira said yesterday the adjustment during the period of Oct 30 to March 25 is intended to meet passenger demand during the high season as well as to create greater regional connectivity.
The flag carrier's non-stop Bangkok-Moscow service, with four flights a week, is set to start on Dec 15 aboard the Boeing 777-200ER.
The other new route the airline created and commenced yesterday is Bangkok-Phuket-Frankfurt, with three flights a week served by the B777-300ER.
Routes to have more frequent flights are:
• Bangkok-Copenhagen-Phuket-Bangkok with two flights a week and served by the B777-300ER, effective Dec 9.
• Bangkok-Stockholm-Phuket-Bangkok with two flights a week and served by the B777-300ER, effective Dec 10.
• Bangkok-London, up from 12 flights a week to 14 and served by the Airbus 380 superjumbo and B777-300ER at seven flights each, effective yesterday.
• Bangkok-Oslo, up from five flights a week to seven and served by the Boeing 777-300ER, effective yesterday.
• Bangkok-Brussels, up from three flights a week to four and served by the B777-300ER, effective yesterday.
• Bangkok-Manila, up from 10 flights a week to 14 and served by the B777-200ER and B777-200, effective Dec 1.
• Bangkok-Dhaka, up from seven flights a week to 11 and served by the B777-200ER and B777-200, effective Jan 1.
Starting yesterday, the airline began to deploy A350 XWB jets for Bangkok-Rome (four flights a week) and Bangkok-Milan (three flights a week).
THAI previously operated that specific aircraft type on the Bangkok-Singapore service.
Meanwhile, the A380 will be used for flight TG672/673 on the Bangkok-Osaka route starting next Jan 16.
