Five DAWW water deficit induced severe stress. Compared with
the first DAWW, the gs reduction was greater than 94% for 390 WS
plants and greater than 84% for 750 WS plants. Stomatal closure
limits transpiration rate, but at the same time, leads to a higher leaf temperature and VPD, which tends to increase transpiration.
While the net effect of CO2-induced stomatal closure is generally
lowered transpiration, this response in an increasingly warmer
world may change
