Both species grow in the mycelial form at room temperature or in the budding yeast form in host tissue or in cultureat 36◦C. It is well accepted that the infection is acquiredthrough inhalation of infectious particles (conidia) produced by the fungus mycelia form present in its as yet unknownnatural habitat.In this infectious disease, the fungus canremain restricted to the lungs, the primary focus of infection,or spread to other organs and tissues, resulting in diverse clinical manifestations.
