Based onthestudiesreportedinthispaper,thefollowing
conclusions havebeendrawn:
1.Texturedsurfaceshavebeensimulatedusingthefractalsurface
characterizationmethodforformingtheconcentratedcontacts
with thelappedsurfaceoftheball.
2. Dampingratiohasbeencomputedexperimentallythrough
curve fitting. Thismethodappearsreasonablyaccurateandcan
be adoptedforarrivingonthecontactdampingforthecases
where dampingisnotknownaccurately.
3. Thesimulatedvibrationresponsesatthetexturedconcentrated
contacts arefoundreasonablyinthegoodagreementwiththe
experimentalresponses.
4. Basedontheparametricstudiesonthevibrationresponsesof
the texturedcontacts,itisobservedthatthecontactscom-
prising ofthesurfacehavinglargesizedimplesandhighdimple
area densityyieldrelativelylargereductionsinthevibration
amplitudes attheresonancefrequencies.
