The investigation then states that Seagate’s Master came to the bridge following the collision and took over the helm. The general alarm was activated but it did not sound. The engine room was evacuated, and it eventually flooded along with the steering gear room, and a mayday call was issued at 0544. Timor Stream also sounded their alarm, and radioed a mayday call. At this time, Battered Bull altered course to come assist the two vessels. When some crew members of the Timor Stream made their way to the forecastle, they shouted to the crew of Seagate to hop down to Timor Stream’s deck, and at 0600, six of them did. At the same time, Seagate’s Master ordered the Chief Officer to prepare the port life raft and lifeboat.
