Oil from the pump is piped to a refrigerant cooled
plate heat exchanger which is used to maintain the
desired oil temperature during the compressor
running time
A thermostatic control valve measures the oil coming
out of the cooler and into the compressor
If the oil temperature increases, the control valve
opens to allow more refrigerant through the cooler
and if the oil temperature goes lower, then the control
valve begins to close throttling the refrigerant
Oil which leaves the cooler, is then piped directly into
the compressor oil filter
Older style YK chillers previously used a 3-way
temperature control valve rather than the current
thermostatic control valve
