These principles and the roles they play in the operation and success of the cooperative may lead conflicts within the organization. Conflicts, especially as related to ownership rights and member benefits,may occur among member, or between the board and management, or member and the manager and/or boards (cook,1994, p.47). To minimize conflict, it is important that theses parties have an understanding of cooperative principles an the contribution of these parties have an understanding of cooperative principles and the contribution of thesis principles to the viable operation and success of the firm. Education and training of these individual and groups is essential in this process (Poorbaugh, 1995,p.64).
