treatments showed that lysine showed the greatest change, followed
by aspartate. Tyrosine was the only amino acid whose concentration
was not increased significantly by zeatin treatment, and
was actually slightly decreased by bacterial treatment.
In vitro, bacterial growth depended on the concentration of
amino acids in the culture media (Table 3). The percentage of amino
acid concentration and their lowest tested concentration was
similar to that of the soil solution (except that glycine and serine
were not added, since no consistent effects of either zeatin treatment
or inoculation were detected). Bacterial cell number
increased linearly in response to increased amino acid
concentrations.
