The industrial process was simple. The handling cost was reduced without feedstock crushing, water-washing separation and detoxification. Both pentose and hexose were converted into ethanol, and the synergistic enzymatic hydrolysis reduced the enzyme loading. Besides, the fermentation residues were converted into high-valued products. The maximum efficacy and benefit of process can be achieved.
The major equipment of this industrial project includes six 50 m3 steam explosion tank (Fig. 7A), four 400 m3 enzymatic pre-hydrolysis reactors, eight 400 m3 SSCF reactors (Fig. 7B), as well as equipments for ethanol distillation, CNG production and LPCM production (Fig. 7C and D). Based on the results in the industrial process, 72.3% of ethanol yield of ethanol and 4.0% of final ethanol concentration were achieved.
