For structural applications, the infill material shall be a dry, granular, cohesionless material, having
filtering characteristics compatible with the subgrade below and the ballast section above, as specified by
the engineer. The material shall be a well-graded crushed stone with a maximum particle size of 1.5
inches (37.5 mm), with no greater than 10% passing the #200 sieve. The coarse fraction of the material
shall have a Los Angeles Abrasion test wear of no greater than 50%.
b. In non-load bearing applications, the infill material can vary, depending on the location and application
of the CCS, and should be as determined by the Engineer.
