The hexafl uorides of selenium and tellurium are similar to SF 6, but they react more readily. This is
likely the result of the bonds being more polar and the fact that the larger Se and Te atoms are less
shielded by six fl uorine atoms than are smaller S atoms. Both SeF 6 and TeF 6 react slowly in water.
