The decomposition of zinc acetate in trioctylamine forms
nanowire bundles that are typically 0.5-6 µm in length and
25-35 nm in diameter. This nonaqueous route offers a
simple approach to fabricating doped ZnO, particularly
transition-metal-doped nanowires. In particular, cobalt-doped
ZnO nanowires are uniformly doped, with magnetic studies
showing a clear deviation from paramagnetic behavior
between 25 and 30 K.
