A new species, Hypolycaena narada, sp. nov., is described from a series of male specimens
from Arunachal Pradesh, north-eastern India. The new species is considerably distinct from other
members of the tribe Hypolycaenini, and is easily distinguished from its relatives based on the
following combination of characters: (a) slightly shining purple-blue upperside forewing with a
dark, diffused androconial patch, (b) underside forewing apex and margin concolorous with the
wing, (c) underside wings with narrow discal bands, ending in black costal spots, and (d) coastal
black spot near the base.
