Beginning on day 3, warfarin dosing was identical in both
groups and was adjusted according to the patients’ INR.
Following the initial warfarin dose, INRs were measured
at 12, 36, 60, 84, and 108 hours. The endpoints of the
study were time to achieve an INR of 2.0–3.0, the proportion
of INRs >3.0, and the time course for reduction in coagulation
factors as well as anticoagulant protein C.
