The results showed that both men and women collected numerous products from the forest for use and/or sale. Men were more involved in the collection of trees and large animals while women tended to collect plant material, insects and fish. Men and women acknowledged that there had been changes in their environment over time. They expressed their opinions about reasons for the changes and who was responsible and what could be done. The increased population in the region has resulted in pressure on the natural resources. The changes to expectations and needs of the people of the region were seen as major contributors to the changes to the environment that both men and women were aware.
