A good method for preparing fire debris samples for analysis should possess
the following features:
1. Enable separation of analytes from matrix with maximal limitation of
interferents influence;
2. Enable sufficient concentration of analytes – often in analysed samples,
there are only traces of accelerants, which without appropriate
concentration cannot be detected, even by such low-limit detection
methods as GC/MS;
3. Be simple, to reduce the number of operations with the sample. The
simpler the method, the lower the risk of contamination of the sample
or loss of some analytes (with consequent incorrect analysis of results
obtained)
