One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to
compare data. Homogeneity of variance was tested
with the Levene statistic (P or a value was set at
0.05). If no significant differences were detected between
the variances, the data were submitted to a
one-way ANOVA. Tukey’s honestly significant difference
post hoc analysis was used to detect differences
between means and to indicate areas of significant
difference. If significant differences were detected
between variances, data were transformed using the
arcsine-square root (for percentage data, i.e. survival
rate) or logarithmic transformations (for LSI value)
(Sokal & Rohlf 1995). All analyses were performed
using the statistical program STATISTICA 6.0.
